- size of main breaker in load center?
- Posted by klim on April 27th, 2006
On the main service drop of the power company is a 90 breaker that
provides service to my shop. In the shop is 125 amp load center that
is currently wired as a straight lug service. I need to put a main
breaker in the load center. Can I use a 100 amp main breaker or must
it be 90 amp?

Silly, it depends on what media you are using.
If DVD-R, you need 90 amps.
If DVD+R, you need 100 amps.
If you are using DVD-RAM, you need to call the power company first to
install a heavy duty service drop.
