I own an older 2channel TiVo and would like to just record several
movies. Then select them to be copied to VHS. The trouble is the only
way I have found to do this is one movie at a time, and only with the
movie actually playing on the TV. I'm thinking of buying a new DVR at
some point and want to know if this ability to pick several things to
record to a DVD or VHS exists? Is there a way to do this with my TiVo?

Some DVD and DVD/HD recorders have a playlist feature which, while it
may not be the intended purpose, it can be used for creating a list of
titles to copy to tape. You can even make a list separated by a black
screen title (record about 5 seconds of black screen) and put it at
the start, end and in-between the titles to record in the list.
