Toshiba home DVD recorders any good?

Wondering about the RD XS32 in particular. Seems to have all of the bells
and whistles, including an 80gig hard drive, and it's going for $398 now.

Thanx to both of you for the replies. One thing I'm having a hard time
understanding is that DVD resolution is supposedly ony 200 lines while SVHS
tape is over 400 lines. So how can DVD recordings look nearly as good as
SVHS tape?

I've had my XS32 for a around three or four months...I love it. This, and
machines like it ARE the future, period. For a person like myself who
watches and records a lot of television, this machine makes life so much
simpler. And it burns pretty decent DVDs as well. I've only discovered a
couple of problems with the XS32...one is that I've found two SONY DVD
players that will not play DVDs created with the TOSHIBA...and second, the
remote leaves A LOT to be desired.

As for the reputed BLACK LEVEL problem....I've not encountered it with
mine.

Viva le Digital Recorders!
