I have a connectivity-related question on the Panasonic DMR-ES20 DVD
recorder. The instructions for it mention running a coax/RF cable from the
cable box to the DVD recorder, but my cable box from Time Warner has both
coax/RF and S-video/composite output (quality is much better when I use the
S-video/composite connection).
The problem is connecting my VCR to the DVR recorder to make DVD copies of
old VHS tapes. Since the composite input of the DVD recorder would be used
up by the previously-mentioned connection to the cable box, this leaves only
the coax/RF input available on the DVD recorder. I tried connecting my VCR
to this, but video quality making it to the DVD recorder is beyond horrible.
So it would appear I have to decide between poor signal quality from my
cable box (if I connect the coax cable from it to the DVD recorder) or a
poor video feed from my VCR (if I connect the coax cable from it to the DVD
recorder).
I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has encountered this problem and how
it could possibly be addressed. Thanks to all for any feedback.
