I currently own a Polaroid DRM-2001G that I purchased for $220 from
Wal-Mart. I'd like another one with similar capability and price, but made
by a different company.

My main problem with the Polaroid is that it may operate with the same
remote control codes as the new one. I always switch brands when I buy a
new VCR or DVD player in order to avoid remote control conflicts.
