I need a drive to store games and downloads, I use a Maxtor 8mb cache drive
as my boot drive, I can get the 120GB 2mb caches for £59.63 inc VAT or is it
worth paying the £14 for the 8mb cache one?

have 8 MB cache. Things are totally different however for disk-intensive
applications, like video capture or DVD creation.

and also copying from one drive to the new one would benefit with the 8mb
cache as well? also are 2mb cache drives carry one year warranty and 8mb 3
years?
