- can a printer w/parallel port only be connected to a computer w/usb ports?

Am shopping for a new computer. I already have a printer with parallel
port. To my chagrin, however, the newer computers have only usb ports,
but no parallel ports.
Are there converters that would allow a parallel printer to be
connected to a usb port & work without problems?
best, Aaron

LOW-END printers are USB only. Anything decent has at least
parallel or network interface.
