Cant read cd-rom drive

Hi reinstall w98se cos of bogus MS patch and now my CDrom drive, when I
click on properties is shown as full tho' no disc in drive, and if i try to
'open' it says dric
ve D is not accessible . can anyone suggest a cure please. and thanks from

Did you also install the mother board drivers?If not you may not have
access to the correct IDE controller thus neither your CD drives.
If you need more info on what is in the system download,install and
use Aida32,
