New PC & Parallel
Posted by Murphy on January 16th, 2006

I have a HP LaserJet that has a parallel interface and my PC doesn't...

I am looking at purchasing a second PC however would like to be able to
print using it.

Do New PC's still have parallel ports of do I need to purchase a USB to
parallel lead ?

Thanks

Some do, some don't. and USB to parallel adapters don't always work very
well. Instead, I'd recommend having a PCI-based parallel port card put in if
no parallel is available.

Generally, yes, but given the importance of it just ask the
seller if online or spin the system around and look if it's
in a store.

You can buy PCI cards with Parallel Port on them... cost
about $30, IIRC.

Have you thought about a parallel port add-on card?
It might be simpler and possibly cheaper.
