Take the fuctions of a device called a router, plus the
functions of the device called a switch, then plop all the
parts you need to do both functions into the same plastic
case. Most consumer-grade routers do now have a 4 or more
port switch integral, and even while the cost fell through
the floor. So it not only routes traffic, but has several
switch ports instead of only the the uplink port that an
old-style router would've had... and in the case of the one
you linked, the wifi ability too.
