There's no need to worry about grounding the motherboard because the
power connector provides all the needed grounding through the
motherboard's internal ground plane (sheet of copper).

Try not to set the motherboard directly on a table because some tables
generate considerable static, especially card tables (vinyl top) and
molded plastic tables. Formica and wood tend to be safe materials,
but it's better to use something specifically designed to be
anti-static, such as pink bubble wrap or pink wrapping foam
(motherboards often come with a layer of this). A 1/2" layer of wood
or newspaper is also good.
