Request for External Drive Recommendation
Posted by Wayne Morgan on October 17th, 2004

I would like either a USB or PCMCIA solution (preferably USB) that will let
me take a laptop hard drive and connect it to a computer. I can find plenty
of enclosures for desktop hard drives, but I would like something that will
let me copy a laptop's hard drive to another laptop hard drive when someone
wants a larger one placed in their laptop.

Use a desktop enclosure with a laptop to ide adapter ($10 - $20) for the
drive.

Chris

Thanks for the recommendation. NewEgg definitely has several options on
this.

2 for 1, not a bad idea. Thanks.

Some 2.5" enclosures will run without a power cable. Desktop enclosures for
3.5" and 5.25" drive always have seperate power cables. The 2.5" ones are
usually cheaper as well.

I'd just get the 2.5" enslosure and get a seperate 5.25" ensclosure if/when
I needed it.

Opening the casing and closing it and opening it and closing it? I
don't really understand what you mean with "when someone wants a
larger on placed in their laptop".

Sorry about that, but if you are looking for types of external
enclosure, I suggest you visit this website:

Hope this helps!
