I have just upgraded a computer that connects to a POS system via a com
port - it works like a dummy terminal - all data is stored on the other
machine.

its a dos based application and seems to run fine except one small problem

when it retrieves data it displays it on the screen slow and sometimes
hesitates half way through.

also sometimes I press the enter key and nothing happens so I press it again
and the curser advances 2 fields - its like it needs a second enter keypress
to act on the first then it acts on both keypresses.

any idea what could be causing this problem??

I am running a athlon XP 2600 cpu with 512M memory, and XP home
