- Software for server
- Posted by Michael C on September 12th, 2005
I've got a customer who has about 10 PCs all running winxp pro and a server
that's also XP Pro. The server is going to be replaced soon and I'm
wondering if it's worth putting win2k server on it. I can't really think of
any reasons though. Can anyone think of any benefits they'd gain?
Cheers,
Mike

workgroup. Is there a problem with the current setup? Can everyone currently
do what they want with easy access to what they want with minimal
inconvenience/no need for multiple logons or shared passwords etc? Is
security or the need to lock down access to workstation configurations an
issue?

I thought about that and it was the only advantage I came up with myself but
I'm thinking that might be extra unnecessary trouble. For example, if their
server is down all machines will be down.
Yep, everything is working pretty well right now.
Not at all, machines are logged in in the morning and left running all day
for anyone to gain access. Being a dental surgery they don't need much
security internally. The question has probably been answered I guess, there
isn't really any need for them to go to server.
