- USB FlashDrive
- Posted by Gary Dingle on October 6th, 2004
Two different flashdrives, which work ok on home machines (XP) do not
on our office machine (XP).
When plugging in, you hear the normal "ding" as though it's being
recognized by the system.
Does not show in Windows Explorer as the next drive letter (doesn't
show at all).
However, in Device Manager, it shows as a separate disk drive, &
clicking the Populate button it then displays the Volume Name & 256MB.
Can someone help with this one??
It has been suggested to me, that there is a setting in XP like in DOS
for LASTDRIVE=, which I can't find anywhere to check what it's set to!
Regards
Gary

In article <31t7m09dhtrerrkckp4pupigt5bgd7ednc@4ax.com>,
garydingle@dodo.com.au says...
can't tell you exactly where. It allows you to make any drive visible or
invisible but doesn't affect its actual existence. It's there but you
can't see/access it.
