- USB - IDE adapter

Bought one of these and having trouble. Tried two disks and neither
works. The 80GB (set as Master) is recognized by Windows (XP) in "device
manager" but I can't get it to show up in Windows Explorer with a drive
letter, which renders it useless. Any suggestions? I believe I am trying
thru' a USB 1.0 port and not USB 2.0 (device is supposed to be
compatible with both).
Thnx

You need to assign a drive letter.
Controlpanel/administrative tools/computer management/storage
disk management right click the drive and assign a drive letter.

I agree that you'll have to assign a drive letter.
In my case, however, I bought an external enclosure and put in a 160GB hard
drive and partitioned it into two 80GB drives. Previously I had drives
letters A: through G: internal to my computer. When I looked for the new
drives in Windows Explorer, I saw that they were recognized automatically as
H: and I:. Don't know why.
