- wake on lan and state S5 (completely power off)
- Posted by Lorenzo on August 16th, 2004
Hello
is there a combination of hardware or a lan card or a motherboard that
would support wake on lan from a state of completely power off (which
is S5)?
Most network card and motherboard (as win2k, xp, and so on) usually
support WOL from only S1 or at the most S3 state.
What I need is to turn on a computer which is OFF. What hardware do I
have to get?
Thanks

yes
Not true, almost all support it from S5.
What hardware do you have?
You need an ATX motherboard, preferribly one made in the last 6
years or so, and just about any wired network adapter.
