- WANTED: Maxtor DiamondMax 300GB Controller or Faulty Drive
- Posted by AlexTurgid on March 2nd, 2006
I have a Maxtor DiamondMax 300GB Hard Drive with a fried controller
board, and I need a new controller board, or a faulty hard drive to use
as spares to fix it.
If anybody has either a controller board, or a faulty Maxtor DiamondMax
10 hard drive, please check the number on the bottom barcode on the
drive. The 1st, 2nd, 10th and 11th characters here need to be
identical:
6B300R0060811
If you are not sure if the drive you have is suitable for my needs,
please contact me anyway. Thanks!

Are you sure the drive isn't under warranty?
I have a DiamondMax 30g drive that had a bent
connector pin and I looked it up on the Maxtor
site in the case that something happened when
I straightened the pin. The drive was built
in 2000 and the warranty runs until the end of
March _this year_ .
Note, from some of my other dealings with Maxtor
it doesn't matter where you got the drive (bought
new, used, given to you by a friend, etc.)

Thanks for your reply - according to Maxtor we invalidated the warranty
for the drive when we swapped the controller board to check if it was
still working. D'oh!
