War Driving with a Macintosh PowerBook
Posted by Cyde Weys on July 24th, 2003

I just bought a new 17" PowerBook G4. So far I'm really happy with it
except for one piece: the built-in WiFi card. It simply doesn't get
good reception. I can't even detect my wireless router from outside my
own house, let alone detect others' routers from the road! What I'm
looking for is a good WiFi card that works with Mac OS X that plug in
via USB or FireWire (Macs don't have PC card ports). A directional
antenna would be nice too, but if it doesn't have that, I'd at least
like a card that I can attach a home-made Pringles antenna to. Thanks
in advance for the help. I've found a lot of good wardriving sites for
Windows comptuers, but I just can't seem to find the hardware I need.
Thanks!

Do you think it might be a conspiracy, or are we just not smart enough for
ya'?
