wireless broadband
Posted by Andrew Hall on June 24th, 2003

Hi all,

I have been investigating the possibilities of setting up wireless broadband
at home for my self and have been told that I will need a four pieces of
equipment (an ethernet compatible broadband modem, a router, a transmitter
and a PCI card) totalling over £300. Im at the stage of half understanding
how this all works but to help clear things up can anyone explain how each
bit of kit links with the other and its function, or direct me to a helpful
website? Is there a simpler option for a single user as this seems not only
complicated but expensive to replace the neccesity of attaching a cable to
my laptop when I get home each night!

Thanks,

Andrew

Cable or ADSL broadband? Between 1/3 and 1/2 of the mentioned sum.
