wireless mouse failure - Model No. PB-WB1

Packard Bell PB-WB1 Wireless mouse failure. It was working normally now it
is not .. new batteries .. tried changing channels .. no joy

The light on the transmitter is on.

This mouse was connected with a ps2 to USB adaptor when it just stopped
working.

I plugged it straight into a USB port to see if that would make the
difference there was no change ..

I tried updating the driver through device manager .. it went through the
motions and now registers a USB mouse in device manager but it still does
not work

When I press the only button on the transmitter the light starts flashing
but there is no other change.

Ideas anyone?
cheers

Did you know that there is a button situated on the receiver pod and one
under the mouse itself. Apparently these two units have to be synchronized
(So I was told at PCWorld). Connect everything up and press the button on
the underside of the receiver unit (the one connected to your PC) the LED
should flash. Now whilst the mouse is within range and with known good
batteries in it, press and hold the button on the underside of the mouse
after a few seconds the flashing LED will speed up and you should have
communication and hopefully it will work.

Had exacatly the same problem. Unfortuantly the charging circuit inside the
mouse has burnt out, so rechargable batteries will not work. The only
answer is to use non recharable ones and keep replacing them when they are
flat.

Tilt. Kinda like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Why not use the
rechargeables, but charge them elsewhere?
