Can anyone help with this message and problem on my computer?

It is constantly shutting down with the message:
System shutdown
NT Authority\system windows must restart because the Remote Procedure Call
(RPC) service terminated unexpectatly.
The computer counts down from 59 seconds, to zero then reboots.

If you know why this is happening, and/or how to fix it, please reply!
I thought I must have a virus, but the computer shop said it has no virus'.
I thought maybe it did anyway, so I did a complete restore to the hard
drive.
I've also added a spyware program and I still am getting this message. I'm
usually online when it happens, on MS Explorer, would that matter?
Please help,
rd

Hi,

You have been attacked by the Blaster Worm Virus that struck a lot of
computers last year. Please see Microsoft's website (link underneath) to
correct this problem.

If you can not access the site, then please reply to this post and I will
send you details by e-mail on how to correct this problem.

Regards,

said there was no virus for one (or maybe both) of the following reasons.

1. They have absolutly no fucking clue what they are doing.
2. They are trying to suck as much money out of you as they can.

You are right. There is a virus present.

Please note that if you are using Windows XP, installing Service Pack 2 will
automatically install the patch for the DCOM RPC Vulnerability (Exploited by
Blaster)

*Download the patch and removal tool first then run the removal tool, and
finally install the patch. Installing this patch may require a reboot (I
can't remember off hand if it does or not)

Blaster doesn't have to be on YOUR computer to do
that. It can be coming from another computer on the
same subnet. The shop was probably right. You don't
have a virus, but you do need to update your security
patches. If you are in an office, or you have a home
network, go around and turn every computer off. Then
start bringing them up, and see when "blaster" starts
up again ... or, just get everyone patched. I've found
that when blaster gets into the network, it can shut down
10 computers for every 1 computer that actually has
the virus on it.

Hi

Yep all you need to do is to update your winblows, for 2000 youd use the
following: Windows2000-KB835732.exe

Just get a small firewall inplace, dont let jack through and either go to MS
and download the needed updates or let windows update do it for you, as long
as you have a wall in place you should be fine unless your PC is the one
that is infected.

This thing hit a large Casino where I was working, and like the other guys
said, you only need 1 infected in a large number to do the damage.

If I remember right I think one of the names for this was Sasser, made by
some lill German Ba$tard that needs his nuts cut off and his throat slit.

Cheers n goodluck
