- firewall/router question
- Posted by jojo on June 7th, 2006
Hi all,
New here and have a question about security.
I am on a network.
If I set the router (SMC) firewall to block all www
to my ip address, nothing happens.
I set it, then apply, and I still have full access.
What gives?
Thanks,
jojo

Remove the port forwarding rule.
Additionally, your should configure your webserver to only accept
connections from the local network.

Without detailing which side of the router (lan vs wan) you're making
that assessment from it's hard to say.
By default the router should block all inbound new requests coming
from the wan (internet) attempting to get into your internal network
(lan). Most by default allow outbound web access from your lan to the
internet.
Within that framework and terminology, what is it you're trying to
accomplish?
