other users loged on, prompt ?

Single machine Running xp pro, cable modem, virus protection and when I go
to shut down I get other users logged on prompt.

How would I go about investigating the cause of this ?

It means you were logged on, and left the machine,
and it went back to the login screen. The Other user
is you. No biggie. Just some more annoying Microsoft
Jargon.

Not in XP. He's just seeing himself logged on from
the user screen.

Only if he has activated "sharing" .. which he has not, or
he would not be asking this question. XP doesn't share
anything by default, and why would anybody open
shares over a modem .. or a dsl ? In any event, he can
look at any connections in Administrative Tools ..
Sessions, and see if somebody has attached.

There's probably a quicker way to get there, but that's what I use. Have a
look at the different types of logging options available.

Cordially,

Kleeb.
