PCLogger tracks and logs software installations and removals while
keeping a good record of the Audit Trail in a log file. Audible alarm
to alert you of any changes (solicited or unsolicited) thus keeping
you informed at all times of what is happening to your PC. Output log
file is CSV format providing useful input for your asset
management/inventory system or your PC diagnostics

Installrite does pretty much the same thing and it's free.

Have a quick review on Installrite (I also saw the report by
Floydman). Cool product! It seemed to be targeting at simplifying
installation, to create an installation trace and for ghosting
purposes? (???). No doubt about it, Installrite looks cool and is
written for the above needs. I have no intention to flame you but, to
use it to detect PC changes looks like an overkill (IMHO) and also I
could not find it doing it don't in real-time and you need to it
manually. Am I right?
And lastly we wrote PCLogger (not to compete against Installrite or
similar remote installation program) but to act as a companion for
anti-virus software. Yes, we still use Norton for our anti-virus
protection, install o/s patches; PCLogger just give us an extra peace
of mind.
