What software blocks parts of sites?
Posted by Mark Fineman on January 30th, 2004

Do any of the common things, like Norton Symantec Personal Firewall
or ZoneAlarm Pro, allow me to block part of a site?

For example, I want
www.a.com/badpage
to be stopped, but all of the other stuff in
www.a.com
to get through.

I can block all of
www.a.com
by putting an entry in hosts, but I just want to block some
of the pages.

Proxomitron can do this. It has very flexible (regular expression based) filters.

See <http://www.proxomitron.info/index.shtml> for more info. You can download
proxomitron here.

See <http://www.jd5000.net/index.php> for a set of superb filters.
