I am running winxphome and after 18months it has suddenly started showing a
screen when starting up called A7V8X.
Does anyone know what this is and do I need to remove it(if so how)?

That's the model no of your Asus m/b, it normally shows on the POST boot
screen. You can get updated drivers, manual etc. for it here:
