Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone has had the experience to visit this site
www.astalavista.net and do a network scan?
How do you go about to block them from seeing the contents of your HD?
I use Norton IS 2003 but with even the highest settings of its
firewall it does not work. I can see my stuff displayed. Make's one
feel exploited.

Second question is if I should be worried if port 113 is closed and
not stealthed so as to avoid getting pinged? How do you stealth this
port?

Please excuse any ignorance
Regards

It just works with M$ pseudo-browser AKA "Internet Exploiter" ;-) at
least on my box. (Neither Opera nor Mozilla display anything in the HD
box.) So i guess it's based on M$ specific stuff like ActiveX or VBS.

Closed is okay, no reason to worry about stealthing it.

Depends how paranoid you are, but closed does confirm the presence of a
machine at the scanned IP address. That means a potential attacker
might think it worth trying to get to other port numbers that may be
active, but protected. Most of the time it isn't going to matter
though.

Quick question. Does it ask if you want to see your harddisk's
content, and if so click here? You click there and in your browser
you see "C:\"?

If so, that's an old trick. IE can also be used as Windows Explorer
is used...to look up files/etc.
