Automatically check for web page updates
Posted by DZN on May 7th, 2004

There is a web page that gets updated each day, but at different times each
day. I'd like to be alerted somehow as soon as it gets updated so that I
don't need to keep checking. Is there someway to set Internet Explorer to
do periodically check if it has been updated and alert me when it has. It
seems like the sort of thing a web browser ought be able to do. I use IE6,
WIN XP or WIN 2000 (depending on which computer I am at). In each place I
have some sort of always on internet connection (cable at home T-1, I think,
at work).

Tools / Internet Options / Temporary Internet Files / Settings.
Check for newer versions of stored pages:
'Every visit to the page'.

In my previous post I asked:

I am aware that IE can check one time per day at a scheduled time through
the favorites menu. What I need is simething that might check several times
during the day since there is not set time where the page gets updated.

Thanks.

I think you'll find that Mozilla or Firefox may well do this.
