AVG update glitch?

Anyone else having trouble connecting to Grisoft with the latest version of
their free AVG antivirus?

Or is it just me?

Thanks for the reassurance. I downloaded the update from the website and
pointed the updater at it, so I'm as up-to-date as I can be.

Yep - Nope - and I even had problems downloading the first of the two
update files from their website -- just wouldn't connect.

Finally got it done - but all kind of deja-boo back to the v6 daze whenist
AVG servers were going all annul retentive on us and we were having to edit
that url.ini file... booh rah. can't do that anymore, ehh?

"Well, it's free!"

So's the flu!

LOL!

No problem when I tried it just now. There was a fairly substantial
program update for Free AVG7 just now (wasn't there 3 hours ago) so
that may explain why the site was temporarily down.

Same here. Whatever the glitch was, it appears to have been ironed out.

There were at least two different updates to AVG7 Free issued today,
both quite large.

The first one was close to 800K and included updates to about 5
different AVG components. The second one was about 500K and updated
only 1 of the AVG components.

If you got the first one you should go back and do a manual check for
additional updates.

You say that there are 2 updates available. How come then when I click on
the
" Check for updates " button, a popup window shows up with the AVG folder
checked
and says " There is no new update " ?

If I go to the AVG site, I notice that there are updates available but in a
..bin format
which I cannot process with Isobuster or other programs like that.

I have the new AVG free 7.0.0289 version dated 2004-11-19 with virus base
265.4.1

Thank you for the help

Your program is seriously out of date. If your automatic update is
not working then I would suspect that some infestation or other has
got onto your system and is blocking access to the updates. This is a
common ploy for the newer viruses and trojans.

Go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com and do a free online scan of
your system (I scan mine there once a month or so just as a safety
check) or download Stinger (free) from http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger
and run it in Safe Mode to check for the more common of the current
crop of nasties.

Good luck
