Battery issues on laptop.
Posted by Nowt on June 14th, 2005

I have a Packard Bell EasyNote laptop. For some reason when I run it on
battery power, the battery dies very quickly. For example, in the last
twenty minutes it has gone from 90% to 60%.

Furthermore, there does not seem to be a quick way of trasnsfering from
the AC power to battery. The only way I can do it is to turn the laptop
over and slide out then slide back in the battery. There must be a
better way.

Does anyone have any suggestions why the battery is dying so quickly. I
am using XP and in control panel, the battery settings are as
"portable/laptop."

Thanks.

The battery is old and needs to be replaced.

Your battery is kaput.

But before you spring for big bucks to replace it, remember that Packard
Bell has not been a reliable brand (that's why they're out of business). Why
not get yourself a new Dell notebook-- they've got them in the $500-600
range if you just need something for basic computing.

You could sell your old P-B on Ebay for $100-200 to offset the cost of the
new one and at the end of the day, have a new computer and not be out much
more than a new battery would have cost you...

Before you go out and buy a new battery, why not try the bios update, it
worked for me:

Just make sure you use the correct one.
