I made a "mirror image" of my hard drive on an external hard drive. When
I travel to my daughters can I take my hard drive to her house and boot
from this drive using her computer?
Thanks

Quite correct. And then there's the MS Activation issue if the OS is XP or
Vista.
I'd suggest the OP just copy his data files and take those with him. Of
course, if the software is different, he may need to take a backup copy of
his application installation software too. (Don't forget to uninstall before
leaving to return home.)
