- Booting into Safe Mode
- Posted by WorkingClassHero on November 21st, 2003
Upgraded my Mb, and can't boot into safe mode using the Ctrl key, or F8.
I'm running Windows 98SE.
This is stumping me and any (easy) suggestions will be most appreciated.
:-)
TIA

Seeing as your not getting any help, you'll have to put up with my effort at
help !
I don't know about W98 but;
#1, Try tapping the key continuously (until success or failure)
#2, use msconfig (start / run / msconfig / OK), on 'General' tab select
'Safe' bootup, reboot
(sorry second option is how it is on XP, maybe similar on 98)

May be this would help you.
Boot your computer, when you are at desk top, shut off your computer. and
than turn back on your computer, if my memory serve me correct which I
hope(hehehe) you will be directed to a page that will ask you whether you
want to boot , 1-normal, 2- safe mode and so on, than select safe mode.

Hey, we all forget the "easy" approach sometimes.....
Next time you run into this, find a good-old-fashioned 3.5" floppy disk,
leave it in the drive... When it complains about "Non-System Disk", pop
it out and F8 3 times (Tap-Tap-Tap)... Wha-la!
Have fun with the new MoBo!
