bracket or parenthesis number in Documents
Posted by Larry Smith on February 14th, 2005

Hi,
Not an important question at all, but...

For the past few weeks I've noticed that when I go Start --> Documents
a number of the documents are followed by numbers in brackets or
parenthesis.
E.g. one entry may read draft05.gif(8)

Can anyone tell me what that number in parentheses is?

I'm quite sure these numbers weren't there for the first three years
I've owned this Windows 98se system.

TIA

You sure it's not draft05(8).gif ?

It means you have 8 other files named draft05.gif
(the first starts with no (#) so (8) is the ninth one)

Thanks for the reply but no I just checked.
In every case the (#) is the last thing on the line.
