- Burned DVD 'hanges' on playback
- Posted by ... on February 6th, 2005
Burned DVD some scenes, especially near end, hang or freeze for a
split second to up to 3 seconds. Scenes don't seem to be dropped,
just momentarily frozen. Is this a problem with the burner, system
settings, or the player perhaps?
Burned with HP DVD writer 200i onto +R using HP Record Now - Make an
Exact Copy
DMA enabled, Dell 8200 P4 2.4 GHz 512 M RAM, Win XP SP1
Virus disabled, zone alarm not disabled, tried to end most running
processes that I know I can disable.
TIA

You can boot up off Movix liveCD and turn your PC
into a stand alone DVD player.
http://movix.sourceforge.net/
It gets over many different kinds of problems with windopes os
not cooperating with you intentions.
Another way is to use liveCDs like Knoppix and Mepis
http://www.frozentech.com/content/livecd.php
but with these bigger liveCDs with more players
and features you need to install to hard disk, or have
second CD to boot with, or if you are clever enough,
read the documentation and run the entire thing from RAM
which then requires around one gig RAM.

Do a firmware upgrade of your writer. I had the same problem with my Liteon
DVDRW. Upgraded the firmware and problem sorted. Also use Verbatim media.

Thank you all for your response and solutions. I spent a lot of time
cleaning my hard drive to clear even more space and knocked the write
speed down to 1x. Seemed to solve the problem.
Cheers
