cable modem needs reset
Posted by yumasan on July 9th, 2003

Everytime I log onto my computer I get message saying the cable modem
needs reset and to click to reset, there's no where to reset. I have no
reset button on the modem either, any suggestions?
Thanks,
Y

unplug the power from it and wait 30 seconds and replug it.  that should do it.

Is the modem yours or the cable-company's? If it's the cable-co's then speak
to their support dept.

thanks for the response Paul! Actually it is one that i bought. I
finally got it to work. When the message came up saying that I needed to
"click to reset" I figured there was a hidden button somewhere on that
screen so I hit Tab a couple of times and it started the reset process.
I actually ended up doing it twice, it said it failed then I restarted
my machine and the message doesn't come up! Go figure!!!
Thanks again!!

If his cable company is anything like any of the cable companies I have
dealt with, he'll get a faster, more accurate answer here !
