Can U hide the to: field?

In sending a mass Email by Group using OE6, is there any way of hiding all the names and addresses of the intended recipients listed in the To: field?

Thanks in advance.

Add the email address to the BCC: field in OE.

As ss suggested, put all the names in the BCC: field. That's Blind
Carbon Copy. I don't like receiving mail without anything in the To:
field, though. Common methods around this are to either add your own
name in there, or an empty group.

So for the first method

To: "DN" <none@none.com>
Bcc: fred@hotmail.com, mary@yahoo.com

Second method, note the ";" for groups

To: DN's Friends:;
Bcc: fred@hotmail.com, mary@yahoo.com

That way, everyone sees the the email was sent to your friends, but not
each other's address.

PS - as Blinky suggested: html is bad, mmmmmmk? Read the link he
provided.

I'd say abusing none.com isn't a good idea, eh? (You're dealing with a
noob, here, so he might take you literally.)

domain: NONE.COM
owner-address: none programs, inc.
owner-address: 30 Hartford Avenue
owner-address: CA 94070
owner-address: San Carlos
owner-address: California

Blinky uses one of his own addresses in To:, and recipients' addresses
in BCC. But recipients see *their name and address* in *their* To
header, at their end, and nobody else's. Same privacy, but why are your
recipients seeing [whatever you put in To: on your end], instead of
their own name and address from BCC?

Oopsy, my bad. Of course substitute real if adopted.

?? To: headers don't get rewritten so how can they see their own name
there? Bcc: headers aren't visible upon delivery, although they should
be able to see the Envelope-to: header which should contain their address.

Same end result, just saves sending the email to yourself.

Now you're *really* confusing me.

You said, first, that they'd see "DN's Friends" from your To header
(and know that it's a list); now you say they'll see their own address.
Which is it?

Send an email like this -

To: blinky@blinkysdomain.com
Bcc: actualrecipient1@domain1.com, actualrecipient2@domain2.com

You and all of the actual recipients will get the mail, but everyone
will see this in their headers (if all are viewed) -

To: blinky@blinkysdomain.com
Envelope-To: actualrecipient2@domain2.com

This is what recip't 2 will see anyway, recip't 1 will see only his/her
addy. The Bcc: header is not visible.

If you send an email like this -

To: Blinky's Holiday Blog List: ;
Bcc: actualrecipient1@domain1.com, actualrecipient2@domain2.com

you have sent to an empty list, you won't get the mail yourself,
individuals' privacy is maintained, but at least everyone knows that it
was sent as a group list and for what purpose.

That's all I was trying to say. Sorry I am not very good at explaining
myself.

Recipient sees his email address.

I know what you were saying. And I was saying that doesn't happen
here.

I should've said I /also/ tested it with gmail. Sent from mutt to mutt,
mutt to thunderbird, mutt to gmail, thunderbird to mutt and so on.
Anyway, we aint getting anywhere here and think the OP has enough to
carry on. Peace.

Ah. Okay.

I just sent myself some tests...but I don't seem to be *receiving*
them. Looks like a server issue. More when I have something...
I want to send to an address on a different server than the one I'm
sending *from*.

Thanks
That seems to send but not receive.
Any other "switches" that need to be set?

I do not know what you mean by "send but not receive".
