You are welcome Jane and Sherry. I had the same problem not a long time ago
and did not know how to deal with it. Pressing Ctrl button is not necessary
but I think it is better to use it . You can also use a JavaScript to resize
your window to any size you want.
Open an IE link and then close all other IE windows. In the
address bar, type the following (where XXX,XXX is your current
screen resolution , or your desired window size you want ):
javascript:moveTo(0,0);resizeTo(XXX,XXX)
Hold the CTRL key and close the window. New windows should now
open at the new size.
Personally I think my first tip is easier to use it.

I can't get windows to stretch to full width - only reduce when click
corner symbol etc.
I've looked in Folder Options/ view / advanced settings and there is a
symbol presumably indicating a problem with visual settings. No help
is available when I click this item.
What do I have to do to get my viewing Windows to expand to normal
size ?
Thanks for any help
