Computer fails to turn off automatically

Computer just upgraded to WinXP Home. Everything is ok except computer
fails to turn off automatically. The screen turns off but the computer
keeps on running until it is switched off manually. Anybody knows the
reason, please? Thanks a lot.

Have you ensured that ACPI/APM is enabled in the BIOS?

Go to control panel\power options If there is and APM tab, click it and
enable Advanced Power management support. If there is no APM tab, I dunno
wtf is wrong. There is some good info on shutdown issues here:
