Connection Speed
Posted by Daniel on May 22nd, 2004

Hey,

I've got a dialup connection to the internet and the connection speed is
always 33.6 kbps , is there a reason for that? does it hav to do with my
systems configuration or with the ISP? Cos I know other ppl who get 49 kbps.

Thanks.

it depends on where you are located and how far you are from the isp, heh
you wanna kno something.. had a laptop that could only get 28.8k in one
spot. but when i moved.. i could get 56k.. not much of a big diffrence.. but
was something.. dial up sucks.. ILL NEVER GO BACK! BROADBAND FOR LIFE!

When I had dial up, I used to get 46, my modem died, replaced it and only
got 36. Pulled it, took it back and got a real one that got me back to 46.
But yes there are other variables with dial up. Distance, in house wiring,
you actually can't name them all in just one season. Search for dial up
speed on google for some hints.

Perhaps it's time to replace that 33k modem.
