- Copy program to another PC remotely
- Posted by SilverR1_04 on August 10th, 2004
Can I copy a factory installed program, (Quicken 2004), from one computer to
another? Preferably over teh internet? Through a network? I somehow copied
an older version of Quicken from PC to laptop with a crossover cable, but I
need to do this from two seperate locations.
If it helps, I am able to access the second computer from a remote location
with RealVCN...
Any ideas?

If RealVPN cannot xfer files, then MS Netmeeting RDS can xfer files
between machines. It's on Win 2K and XP and can be downloaded if needed
to run on Win 9'x. It may already be on ME.

The RDS means (Remote Desktop Sharing) and is part of Netmeeting it doesn't
matter what version Netmeeting it is as I have used Netmeeting's RDS on a
Win 2k machine to control a machine running XP using Netmetting's RDS. You
should read the help documentation on using Netmeeting using RDS along with
how to xfer files between machines when RDS is being used.

I got into Netmeeting, but it only allowed me to open Quicken on the
computer that it was on. Then I tried to file transfer, but it looks as if
I would have to trasfer every single file that makes up Quicken. I can't
find Quicken's executable install file, (icon). Unless it's hidden
somewhere in the Quicken folder or somewhere else.

Shortcuts use .Lnk. It's not an "i".

I don't know what you're talking about here. I have xfered several files at
a time as I recall and didn't have to send them one at a time. NM's xfer of
course sent them one at a time but several files were selected. The
filenames were not changed. That also includes zip files.
