- copying cd problem?
- Posted by martin loomis on September 3rd, 2003
I buy my kids lots of games(cd) for their computer and since they always
lose them (like where's the friggin remote for the TV?) I keep the originals
and let them use a copy till they can't find it and I make another one.So
they get this game from Maxis-the sims, I make a copy and it won't work, the
original has 69 files,12 folders. So does the copy, but the original is
593mb and the copy is 573mb in size, what am I doing wrong? Show hidden
files in folder options is selected.I hope this isn't their way of saying if
you lose the original you are screwed .I register these things online, if I
loose it will they send me a replacement? I think they should since I don't
have the option of saving it from the rugrats who are gonna lose it
eventually.Anyways, I believe in backing up everything you have on your
computer for the inevitable oh shit I lost it. So what do you all think I'm
doing wrong or what's up with this CD? TIA

Can't tell him much, but someone will be along shortly to offer advice. In

And as for posting, whatever he does, he shouldn't post in HTML. And if he
wants to post test messages, he should use a TEST group.

The purpose of test newsgroups is to allow users to test

Usually you can get around copy protection by burning an image of the CD.
The image is all the data in a 640 megabyte file in an .iso format. You can
make images with lots of burning software. Once that image is on your drive
you burn the image to a CDR and have a perfect copy.

It wasn't. There's a troll going around impersonating Boomer. You'll have
to try and separate the troll crap from the good stuff...
