- Cursor is jumping
- Posted by Jan H on September 23rd, 2003
Since a week or so my cursor developed a strange behaviour.
Some hours after startup the cursor starts to jump and skip when
crossing the screen, rather than moving in a smooth uninterrupted
manner. On occasion text does not appear while typing until a second
or two after the keystroke.
It appears something is interrupting the processor, and causing other
actions to stop for a second or two, then letting them resume.
It's getting worser and worser until it is unworkable and I have to
reboot my PC.
After that the problem is solved for some hours, but then it starts
all over again.
I downloaded the latest McAfee virus updates but a scan did not show
any hit.
I'm running W98se for three years now and never had this problem.
Is this a known problem? And what should I do to get rid of it?

If it's a cordless mouse, replace the batteries.
If it is a corded mouse, try a different one.
Follow 'Mike' 's advice.
