D-Link DI-624 Router and email problems
Posted by Paul on July 3rd, 2004

I've been using the DI-624 Wireless router from D-Link for a few months
now. Everything from the installation to the setup was done without any
problems.

As of late, I've been having trouble connecting to the Shaw mail
servers. I made sure my email program (Eudora) had the full server
names. That did the trick.

However, another user on this computer was unable to connect to the
email server. It didn't even seem like Eudora was even able to get past
the router at all. The connection refused message pops up almost
instantly.

The weird thing about it all was that I could access the email servers
only by using my copy of Eudora, and nothing else. No other program
seems to work. Now, nothing is working. Doesn't matter what program I
try, I can't connect to the mail server. Everything else seems to be
working: web, news, etc.

I'm going crazy here. I've tried changing all sorts of settings, nothing
seems to be working. I called tech support, and he had me Telnet into
the server, which I couldn't do. The port wasn't open, which the tech
thought was odd because I could seem to send and receive email just
fine, at least for a while.

Any suggestions? I have no idea what I can do. I'm tempted just to stop
using the router, although I hope it doesn't come to that.

Paul
