I still haven't gotten rid of it even after disabling Messenger. I am
using XP Home edition and it happens with all browsers - sometimes even
without a browser. Anything else to try before reformatting?

Perhaps a bit more info would be helpful. What else have you done? What are
you talking about? If you have previously posted this info, I apologize, but
there isn't really a lot to go on in your post.
