Defrag will not work Help !!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Dave xxxx on March 3rd, 2006

Been doing some homework

When trying to defrag on an XP system I get this message

''Diskeeper has detected that CHKDSK is scheduled to run on the
volume: Please run CHKDSK /F.''

I try that and the computer reports

Checking File System on C:
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot open the volume for direct access

microsoft says at
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;176504

to do ..........

To work around this issue, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Devices.
3. Click NetworkX, click Startup, click Disabled, click OK, and
then click Close. This change does not take effect until the computer
is restarted.

I can not find Network X ?

is there any other way to sort this out ?

ta in advance

Well, that's logical if you haven't installed "CrypKey Software Licensing
System version 4.3 from Cobalt Systems", as per the text at the link you
posted.

Yes. Install CrypKey Software Licensing System version 4.3 from Cobalt
Systems.

Fuck me dead. How stupid can you get? I would tell you that something has
the locked the volume you're trying to defrag so you should try starting in
safe mode and defragging from there, but you're not likely to read that
either, you fucking nong.

I had the same problem last week. Tried to defrag and couldn't because it
said that CHKDSK is scheduled to run. Please run it . When i tried it said
that it cannot open the volume. I tried every thing and finally gave up ,
called Microsoft technical service and following their instructions. They
solved it in no time at all.

The artical you refer to in your orginal post seems to only apply to the Win
2K and NT 4.0 versions of the NT based O/S(s) and not XP. Most of the time,
the features may apply to all versions of the O/S(s) even if a version is
not listed. But the feature you're wanting to use may not apply to the XP
version.

It would be helpful to the OP if you could share the information to get him
out of his problem.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You top-posting fucktard. You're too stupid to even think
about telling the OP what the fix was.
