- deleting FrontPage "_vti_cnf" folders
- Posted by Jean Valjean on February 25th, 2005
I recently installed FrontPage on my http server only to remove it a few
days later. However, I'm now stuck with several hundred folders named
"_vti_cnf" all through my directory tree.
Can anyone suggest a dos command line or other solution to quickly get rid
of them all at once? I've experimented with various DEL and RD switches,
but haen't found the right combination needed to delete specified folders
all through a tree. I'm hoping for something that would accomplish
something like...
del /s _vti_cnf
Only problem is it doesn't work. Suggestions?
Many thanks.

You didn't mention anything about server OS or permissions.
Normally a simple, Start / Find / _vti* / sort the list / select all the
_vti folders and delete.
That's always worked for every FP IIS/Apache server I have setup, of
course that means I am using an admin account.
It's been a long time since using FPSE. IIRC you can select remove FPSE
from a web in IIS manager, try that before uninstalling FPSE,
