directx 9.0
Posted by Jos on February 1st, 2004

I cannot instal directx. It stops when copying the file
< qdv.dll> and about 1 1/2 minut later there is the message that
installation has failed.

Does anybody knows wat's going wrong?

Jos

Are you using the web-based installer or the stand alone installer?
IF the latter, maybe you have a bad download.

Looking into it further, have you installed updated drivers for your
video card and/or audio card? It may be an older video/audio driver is
causing the problem.

It did not work, but thanks.

That's what I thought, just wanted to be sure.
Download and install the Adaptec ASPI driver. It should be on any
system with a CD and/or DVD drive: http://tinyurl.com/5cvm

Have you gone to Windows Update to see if you need any updates? It may
be that the QDV.DLL was updated in another Win98 update (other than
DX9).
Do you have a CD or DVD burner? If so, check for updates to the
software you use to burn with.

Well, I'm out of ideas. Hope someone will come along that might have

Good luck.

Locate the qdv.dll file on your system, and rename any and all copies
of it to qdv.old. Now try the DirectX install.

Cheers,
dan
