Drive configuration & Sata driver
Posted by Jumper on November 15th, 2007

I have a desktop that had a floppy drive A:. I removed the floppy drive
to make room for another
hard drive. I disabled the driver for this floppy. I have an external
USB floppy to use, however it defaults
to a B: drive designation. Is their a way to change this to A: drive
configuration?

My laptop a Gateway MY6821 had Windows Vista on it and I want to put XP
pro on it. This requires SATA drivers
to achieve. Unfortunately the unzipping of this driver automatically
tries to install on the A: Drive.

Any ideas as to how to change this or some other solution for the SATA
driver problem?

Go into your BIOS and disable the floppy.

I removed from the BIOS and disabled there after your idea. The USB Floppy
still insists on B:

Dos has a command ASSIGN that you can use to assign B: to A:

I take it your using a DOS disk to install the SATA driver.
