Drive Image: which is the latest version?
Posted by Fogar on April 17th, 2004

Hi, I'd like to know the latest version of Drive Image.
Another question please:
Is it newer Drive Image v7.0 or Drive Image 2000?
Thanks

bye Fogar

DI 7 is 2002, DI 6 is 2000. DI 6 will not work with XP, you need DI 7.

Thanks for your pleasant news.
Can you tell me if I have to installa also ".Framework"?
I know there are two ".Framework"

1) Microsoft .NET Framework versione 1.1
2) Microsoft® .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package

The second .NET Framework is very heavier. Can I install the first
one? Will Drive Image work?
thanks

I "think" it was NET Framework V1.1, not redistributable which I had to
install for DI 7.

I'm sorry, I haven't understood.
Can you explain better me, please?
A friend of mine told me NET Framework is not necessary.
Is it necessary for Drive Image v7.0?
tahnks

It is clearly stated on the Drive Image site that Microsoft .NET Framework
is REQUIRED FOR ALL INSTALLATIONS

I use Drive Image 5 with XP. Following info comes from the LangaList
newsletter:

That alone might be enough to rule out DI7 for many people, but there's
more: DI7 itself is a porker, weighing in at 45MB, so an installation
will actually take an incredible 85MB when you include the mandatory
..Net installation.

Recall that DI5 could be made to fit on a single floppy, if you wanted
it to--- just 1.44MB for essentially similar functionality to what now
requires 85MB. Talk about bloat!

Yes, DI2002 *can* work on XP. In fact, if you dig deep enough in the
PowerQuest site, you can find their old recommendations from when DI2002
came out--- they list XP (and Win2K) as supported systems. For that
matter, the even-older DI5 can work fine on XP--- it's what I use, and
as I said in the newsletter, I think DI5 on XP is actually superior to
DI7 on XP. So I emphatically was NOT saying "Nothing but DI7 will work
on XP and Win2K..."
